Rules for your production

- You need to be able to prove you have checked ownership and have sought permission to use the track.
Your choices will need to:
- Be discussed by the group/class - pro's and con's identified
- Be filtered out by your teacher if unsuitable (please anticipate the likely 'secondary' audience at Henley (parents, younger children, principle etc)
- Be accessible to all members of your team
- Be chosen by a unanimous group decision
- Inspire the group to make a creative, original music video that uses and/or challenges conventions
- Be suitable for broadcast on mainstream music television so
- No swearing
- No sexually aggressive language/imagery
- Avoid drug related lyrics/imagery
BEFORE YOU START PLANNING PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING
You have TWO weeks (after this) to film and edit your music video
You MUST submit a production schedule before you start filming so we know where you are and what you are doing. I expect you to be in or around the Henley area or using the studio at all times. If you would like to film at home or at a different location you will need to do this in your own time and not during lesson time. IF for any reason you can not film at any other time you will need to provide written confirmation form from parents to state that you are filming on location during lesson time.
We need to monitor your progress so we expect to see during the first lesson of the this week and at time sthat fit around your filming schedule.
This is the perfect opportunity to use the music studio to film. You are not restricted to rules for this production so be creative. You can dress up as superheros or icons, create a fantasy production, use the greenscreen to transport yourself to the moon, use the smoke machine to create effect, use stop motion technique to create an animated music video. BE CREATIVE!

Planning
Storyboard (evidence of drafting is required)
This is vital. As you may have more than one narrative/sequence being shown it is probably best that you work on each narrative/sequence first and then piece them together into the music video; therefore you can do this in a creative way by using post-it-notes which you can move around and change their position in the trailer.
Shooting Script
Download the lyrics and add camera shots and visual next to the words in order to create a running camera script
Shooting Schedule
To add to your time management and help you stay on top of your filming you need to plan your shooting schedule. Remember that you do not have to film in the order of the storyboard but you need to make sure you have allowed enough time to set up the shots and gather your raw footage.
Organisation of Actors (create yourself)
You need to show you have organised your actors. Here you can create a call sheet/diary of when they are required. It is always nice to have photos of your actors too.
Organisation of Costumes (create yourself)
This should not only show your chosen costumes but it should also justify why they are appropriate, remember to reflect in your music genre and artist (refer to the star theory). Remember that this is a music video so you will need more than one set of clothing for each scene. Try to be creative; think about using images and/or short sequences with the characters in costume and a verbal explanation.
Organisation of Props (create yourself)
This needs to show you have considered genre specific props and are organised generally for the shoot. This should again be creative with images and written justification of how they suit the genre/characters, help reflect the narrative.
Location Recce
Try to approach this creatively. You should include photographs of locations considered as well as the chosen ones, again remember that this is a music video and so more than one location is bound to be needed. Here you should also consider access to electricity/lighting demands etc. A written justification is also appropriate here.
Evidence of Seeking Permission to Use Music
You need to show evidence that you have sought permission to use the music you have chosen. This can be a screen print of an email sent to the record label. Obviously you will not know who to contact and the likely hood of you getting a reply is slim but you must draft an email to the production company and print screen the email and upload
Found Footage
Found footage is fully acceptable for inclusion with your own footage as long as it is substantially modified by
edit or effects techniques. Consideration should be given to copyright and obtaining clearances but, provided no
actual public airing or sale is planned, clearance can be limited to that required by educational establishments for
use of footage. Where actual public screening, sale or webcast is planned full clearances, including clearance for
the use of the music track, will be essential.
